Since the far reaches of time, the lands of Treviso have been particulary suited to viticulture, thanks to Alpine protection from the cold north winds, warm Adriatic sea breezes, and above all the composition of the soil and the wisdom of generations devoting intelligence, study and labor to vineyards and to wine.
The first Italian school of viticulture and oenology was born in Treviso, specifically in Conegliano, in 1877. As one of the first such schools in the world, it spread a modern wine culture throughout the region, leading to new methods of planting vineyards and in turn to top quality wine, appreciated all over the world.
